Acid Mothers Temple and the Melting Paraiso U.F.O.

The Acid Mothers Temple and the Melting Paraiso U.F.O. are a self-described "freak-out group for the 21st century" founded in 1996 by members of the Acid Mothers Temple soul-collective led by guitarist Kawabata Makoto. Over the course of a half dozen albums and several U.S. and European tours, they've become the most significant Japanese psychedelic band operating today, and one of the most dynamic rock bands, period.

LP version available on Eclipse Records

These recordings were originally released on vinyl-only in 2001 by the excellent Arizona label Eclipse. This compact disc reissue, in a lovely digipack, includes all of the material on the vinyl version, as well as a bonus track (more on that in a bit). The title track of the album is a wonderful interpretation of the signature composition from composer Terry Riley. AMT's interpretation of Riley's 1964 composition is both sympathetic to the original and groundbreaking in its own right. Also included is the track "In E", which AMT performed often during their 2001 tour of the US. Even better, the compact disc reissue includes the 19 minute bonus track, "In D", which'll make you forget all the other chords.

Recorded at FTF studio, Indo-yo and Acid Mothers Temple.
Produced and engineered by Kawabata Makoto.
