Bitty, my main character from Canary in the Coal Mine, was lucky enough to have his likeness captured artistically lately, by the kids at Swanson Middle School, where I spoke last month about historical fiction, and by my friend Sarah Hand, an artist you’ll find blogging over at Hearts and Needles. I keep moving this little guy around the house, sort of like Elf on a Shelf, but without any threats, trauma or repercussions.
